Understanding Islamophobia and anti-Judaism
Katharina Heyden is researching the “co-production” of Christian, Jewish and Islamic traditions. Islamophobia and anti-Judaism, she says, can only be understood through the history of their stereotypes and fears.
About the person
Katharina Heyden
is a professor of early Christian history and interreligious encounters. Her research interests include interreligious encounters in antiquity and the Middle Ages, Christian life forms, and imagery. Heyden headed the Interfaculty Research Cooperation (IRC) “Religious Conflicts and Coping Strategies” (2018–2022) and has been a principal investigator of the international research initiative “Interactive Histories, Co-Produced Religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam” since 2022. Heyden is also an ordained pastor and a member of the EKS synod.
